July 19, 2013Hello, I am Joe and I have a music project called Eternal Surge. I am at trying to promote the music online but there are some weird things going on besides my music, and it is difficult for me to get plats, followers, downloads, likes, etc for some reason that I am unaware of because I don’t get any feedback or comments like most other people do or would for some reason. I’m at a loss as to what else to do about this problem. I released new instrumentals every day for 2 weeks and now have over 25 songs out for free online.
Thanks for any time and assistance that you can provide,
ESJoe McGough

July 24, 2013Hi Joe!
Thanks for your question! After taking a look at your site and social media accounts, my initial suggestion would be to get very clear on your branding. Choose either Joe McGough or Eternal Surge and focus on promoting one of them as your brand. Joe can be the voice of Eternal Surge, but focus on one brand and go with that. You need to link to your FB and Twitter accounts from your website. You have the urls, but they aren’t links. Links would be helpful or a button that takes visitors to your pages would be better. Interact as your brand on all social networks. Follow other bands and industry professionals, and interact with them as your brand. Invite your friends to follow you and ask them to share your music with their friends…just don’t beg or pester, that doesn’t work. 🙂 Lastly, don’t give away so much music. Start a (free) MailChimp mailing list, put an opt in on your site and give away 1 song in exchange for first name & email. This will start a mailing list of fans that you can promote to. If you give away too much, there’s no incentive for fans to go further.
Let me know how it goes!
